• Check out the photographer's portfolio of weddings. Any photographer of quality will have an available portfolio of their past work on their website, easy to view. This will make your decisions clearer once you see their past work.

• Meet with your potential wedding photographer beforehand to make sure that you feel comfortable communicating your needs in general. Open communication and a friendly professional relationship is vital when it comes to your wedding photographer. You do not want to talk to her for the first time on the day of the wedding.

• Show your photographer any images that reflect the style you are going for. This is part of open communication. Do not expect a photographer to read your mind or assume your style. Show examples of the shot or style you want if you are not sure what it is called.
